Any important part of our life that is lost, be it a person, animal or even a job deserves to be properly mourned and missed. People who say those things about the death of a cat are very thoughtless.

Go, Ellie, taking up the slack! They miss him too, I know.

As for people who don't get it that this is part of your life that has been ripped out, they can piss up a rope. It IS hard, and anyone who thinks your grief needs to conform to a timetable, or that another cat could ever replace Harvey, is a jackass.

Just keep on doing what you are doing. Grief works itself out.

Does snarfing garlic bread count?

I absolutely HATE people who say stupid things about pet grief. Ug.

I'm glad things are balancing out. Oh, and for the biting? Try this--every time she bites, take hold of her bottom jaw between your thumb and forefinger. They never think to bite down, for some reason, and this really annoys them and helps cure the biting of hands.

Thanks, Cecily. I will try that.

I know what people say is irritating, but remember, MOST of the time, they don't really know what to say, and they don't mean to cause you hurt.

Humans. Can't live with 'em, you know?

Just keep on posting your thoughts.

Sometimes, mostly when it's quiet at night, and I'm trying to fall into sleep, a snapshot of my aunt will come into my mind, and I have sit up and catch my breath.

I have never experienced and witnessed such a tremendous loss in my life to date as this one, and I am not looking forward to the next, but I know it's coming. And it sucks ass. Eloquent, eh?

Thoughts of long, warm hugs for you and for Harvey, little baby bat ears.
